So, what's your movement, and are you a passionate initiator or a tepid follower?

Here's my theory: Your vegetarian lifestyle is causing you to dream of eating thick, juicy steaks and burgers at night, so your body starts working digesting the "food" as you sleep, and you lose weight. The solution: eat the real steaks and burgers to counteract your body's work. :) (That's assuming that you want to keep those 2 pounds, which probably wouldn't be the general reaction.)

For what it's worth, I don't actually condone sneering... I just wonder if it might be a healthier activity than I gave it credit for. :)

And about Rome, why go to Rome to eat till we puke, when we have Thanksgiving coming up? We don't even have to leave the comfort of our own home!

Ok Brian...I love, love LOVE this post...I truly laughed out loud!

As an aside, I'm totally in for a visit for Rome with meat, without meat...who cares...it's Rome.

Do people sneer in Rome? I think I heard once the French actually give sneering lessons. Maybe the itinerary should include a stop over in (oh...let's say Paris) France BEFORE Rome to get the whole sneering thing down. :)

It is not that food made in a lab is inherently inferior, only suspect. Based on previous attempts, we seem to have trouble creating nutritional substitutes to nature, those attempts usually are a step backward rather than a step forward. Who knows, maybe we will learn that there is nothing wrong with genetically modified crops.

Part of the problem is that long-term testing is conducted by the corporations (they are the only ones that have the funds to do so), and they have a biased towards a healthy outcome. Another part of the problem is that HFCS has only been on the market for 30 or so years, not enough time in my mind to determine long-term affects.

The point of the blog is that there is no hard evidence as to whether HFCS is harmful or not, so in the end, you should go with your gut.
